Blogworthy.
Why is it that all the stuff worth blogging about happens when I don’t have a computer!?
Not all of it’s good, in fact some of it’s kind of sad/bumming, but still, it’s something to write about, even if I am still writing on a PC because I’m still Mac-less.
It makes me sad. Boo.
Something else that makes me sad is what I read on the news on Tuesday afternoon. A girl I went to school with for a few years died after being hit by a car last weekend. (http://www.stuff.co.nz/4594826a10.html). I was never really friends with her, but we got on pretty well, and it’s horrible to think of something like that happening to someone you know. It seems like the type of thing that only ever happens to “other people”.
On Wednesday after I took my laptop in to be fixed and spent the day wandering around town with a friend, I joined a gym. My mum has been going to Curves for a few months now, and really enjoys it. It’s a women’s only gym, which means there are no old men around to stare at you (which is one thing that kind of scared me about the university gym I used to go to) and you only go there for 30 minutes a day, which is easy to fit in. I’ve only been once so far, but I joined for 3 months, through until the end of September, so hopefully it works. :D
On Thursday I FINALLY sat my learner driver’s lisence test! This means that I can start to learn to drive…which is kind of a scary thought! Oh well, we shall see. *contemplates booking driving lessons*
This morning I discovered my bedroom floor has flooded. I got out of bed and felt WET carpet under my feet. This is never a good sign, so dad and I moved all the furniture out of the way, pulled up the carpet and discovered that the underlay was absolutely soaking! We’ve concluded that the water has come in through the wall from outside, since our house is a split-level built into the side of a hill, and it’s been raining really heavily the last couple of days. Right now we’re trying to see if things will dry out with the help of the dehymidifier and the heater, or whether we’ll need to replace everything that’s been damaged! :/
Yup. So that’s my exciting life. :P
AHH!! I hope nothing ended up getting damaged!! Water damage can be really bad. That really sucks that that happened.
I joined a gym back in January, and I went faithfully up until mid-April when I got super busy with school. I should’ve never got out of the habit. I felt better and had more energy during the day when I worked out. And the gym I’m a member of has really great workout classes that kicked my butt, like kickboxing and a strength training class called “body pump”.
Ooooh, I want a gym membership but I dont do gyms =/
Sucks about your house. I hope it’s fixable and that it doesnt happen again!
curves gym is pretty neat but going to an all womens gym means that you cannot spot gym hotties anymore
I started doing Curves my senior year of high school with my mom and sis. While I like the environment, it really doesn’t do much exercise-wise. I need cardio and to lift a bit more weight in order to burn pounds. The machines can’t really be adjusted so what may work for my delicate grandma may not work for me.
Oh ok, that’s good to hear from someone who’s had experience with that type of gym.
Like I said, I’ve only been once, so it’s kind of hard to judge how suitable it is for me straight away, but hopefully I’ll find out soon
my friends joined curves a while ago, she liked it too. Personally, I’m not a gym person. The idea of other people sweating on equipment, actually having to go there, and all the other people around, eh. I prefer working out at home.
wet carpet’s the worst. even if it dries, it’ll smell all icky after
Thanks for you luck! I think it worked… I believe I did quite well on the exams, although I didn’t get all of the results yet.
It’s always so sad when someone you know, or even someone you only met once was there one second, and then gone the next.
I really hope this next week brings you some better news.
It sucks that your floors are completely wet, hopefully all your things will dry out!
Congrats on getting your learner’s permit.
Aww. I’m so sorry to hear about the girl. It’s quite sad when someone young dies and especially someone you knew. I guess we never think it’ll happen to anyone we know. Good luck at the gym. It’s great that it’s only a women’s gym. I’m too terrified to drive. I say you should go for it. You have to conquer your fear sooner or later right.
Sorry to hear your bedroom was flooded. =(
I tagged you!
Visit my blog for details!
Eeeek the flood doesn’t sound too great! I keep thinking about joining curves, I might join it, although I prefer to spend longer in the gym.
a women’s only gym! gosh i’d love to find one like that over here
currently looking for fun yoga classes - i’d love to try it out :D
Oh my - a flooded bedroom? Not the best way to wake up, that’s for sure. I certainly hope the overall damage wasn’t too bad.
I tried Curves and I grew to really dislike it. I did like the idea of going to a place ran by and for women only. Nothing makes me feel more self-conscious that getting all sweaty on the treadmill next to some hottie guy. *lol* However the repetition irritated me so that I became incredibly bored. I guess it just wasn’t for me.
